how long do you have to give it? my folks blf got out and was gone for an hour, by the time I was called and got over there, she had snuck back into an open kennel and was hiding. Is it this afternoon thing, or in the morning ok. got a call into vets, figgered this might be faster. travis

The so called mismating injection of bygone days was estrogen. When DES injectable was available it was relatively safe, now the only injectable estrogen is ECP which is an excellent way to induce endometrial hyperplasia followed by pyometritis in about 30 days. There is no commercially available product for mismating that does not carry a risk for the bitch.

Your options are

1. if she was bred and becomes pregnant let her carry the puppies to term

2. ovariohysterectomy when she goes out of season

3. ultrasound for pregnancy at 30 days and terminate pregnancy with daily injections of prostaglandin f2 alpha (Lutylase)
