Well I broke down and bought a (go devil) 18ft boat with a 25hp motor. We will be using this in the bay to duck hunt. Has any one used this kind of boat before??
My son and I have been fishing out of it now. We have gone through grass in water and shallow water ( ankle deep). Where we plan on going is the Laguna Marde out of Brownsville.

Easy on the Bottom

You might want to check the reg's as the mud motor tears up a lot of ground, not a bad thing in bayou country where they were born, but the Laguna is fragile and like up at Red fish Bay may be subject to fines etc. for disturbing the grass and leaving a trail ... just saying check the reg's

You've made a terrible choice. You'll never kill any ducks out of that rig.

I'll do you a favor and take that trash off your hands, and won't even charge you for doing it.

Just being friendly regards,

jim, it is probably the most durable hunting boat on the market today. it will run like a bat out of hell with a surface drive and handle better than you would think despite it's looks. longtails push a little slower, 20-25mph. you can get more speed by removing the flotation under the floor as it tends to add several hundred pounds to the boat when wet.
