UGA is holding an event in Iowa May 12/13, All Breeds, All Upland Test. Pointing labs are running in the pointing divisions and you test out in one weekend?!

Anyone else seen this? Attending? Looks interesting....

We appreciate your interest. We would love to get into Colorado if we had a place to host it. We like to turn to breed clubs and/or hunt clubs to look for prospective grounds to host the test. Being a midwest organization, we do not have a lot of contacts there. Any help would be appreciated! Currently, other than Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, we have a few groups working with us to get our tests in Oregon, and Mississippi.
I will bring this up at our club meeting, We have the grounds and could host a fall hunt if the club OKs it, i have a bird supplier, we have a real deverse club BDC members, AKC, HRC, this i think would be a good option as HRC upland is all about steadyness and nothing about upland,
I completely understand your point, and we would love to get a test out to Colorado. Thank you for considering us!

Just remember, the UKC test is very much based on steadiness, and demonstrates a level of control that makes hunting with your dog much safer and efficient for you, the dog, and the hunting party. And when a dog can hunt with that level of control and steadiness, it is a true "Finished" level hunting dog, which is exactly what that test is designed for. For dogs or hunters that choose not to train to that level, or run their dogs that way in the field, our "Gundog" test is perfect for you, as it still demands a skillful dog to pass.

Keep us posted, and again, thank you for your questions and interest.

The UGA sounds like the way to go. A great event, you run 2 times in one day, if your dog passes both he's titled. On the following day they run a best of 3 bird single run (fun trial) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, ribbons, and for the Open Champ Title. I own a kennel and for once I can go run my dogs in a non-political event with some pretty big names on their site for sponsors. Native Dog Food is one. These guys are for real. See you there in May!
So what you are saying if the dog can do all the work of a akc/ukc event but the owner of said dog is not a ribbon chaser it does not count for any thing.
Nope, if the dog can do the work and makes you happy that is all that matters. But if and organization says they are giving out titles its nice to be able to see them on a pedigree. I am sure these tests are a blast to run and compete in, and I might enter if one was in my area. It's all about having fun with your dog, that is why I run AKC hunt tests as well as some field trials and also HRC hunt tests, its all fun.
Agreed. I'm in for the love of the sport of Upland and Waterfowl hunting and for the love of my dogs. Mans/Womans best friend. If you can't enjoy your dog and see him/her succeed in the field from hard work on both parts, then you shouldn't do it, your hearts not in it for the right reasons.

We need more gundog enthusiast to come forward, have fun run their dogs, and meet more people with the same ideals and values that they have.
We run a similiar type of test in Utah/Idaho. Its one of the ones that Bo runs as well. Its the NKC which is the National Kennel Club. They take a AKC registration and register your dog and you compete in events...all upland in trial stakes. Meaning placement. 1st through 4th places are awarded and given points. After a certain amount of points are achieved and the dog has to have a win to title. Any interest in doing one in the Idaho area? I have access to birds and land as well.

Kevin, your dogs would run the events pretty awesome!

We have interest in running events anywhere possible! We would just need to iron out details, times, and making sure we can get enough dogs entered so that we can make the trip! Please contact me via email so that we can discuss. Thanks! [email protected]
