Had someone ask me for a good reference for obedience tape/dvd. He wants to have a well trained obedient dog for hunting. He will be starting with a young pup. Anyone have ideas?

Thanks

Evan's is very good. So is Jackie Merten's. I also have the Leerburg one, and it's very good. It stresses teaching with markers, then bringing in corrections with distractions. I have not seen the Connie Cleveland one, but I can't imagine hers would be too shabby either.

Connie Cleveland's "Dogs Are Problem Solvers" is an excellent obedience dvd. Available online at ybsmedia.com
I will second this recommendation (and I am just a paying customer ;)).

A friend turned me on to Connie's tapes and I love them. They are easy to follow and her flow chart is really a plus. They are geared more for competition obed, but the basics are the same. I understand Connie also has a book of her "Dogs are Problem Solvers" articles coming out, or maybe they are already out. That's already on the Christmas list.

I would also love to fly out to Colorado this summer to attend the obedience seminar with Janice Gunn. Anyone know of any cheap flights from St Louis to Denver??? And Janice, when is your video coming out?

P.S. Barb, I found out I can use my computer at work to burn that CD of pictures. So, I will get them to you I promise!

Frontier flights are about $200. All the working spots in the seminar are taken but there is plenty of room for auditors. If you'd like a copy of the flyer, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you!

David Dikeman's "Command Performance". You can pick them up on ebay pretty regularly pretty cheap. Otherwise, PM me, and I'll send you contact info, but it'll cost more. It's a two tape set.
Apart from Connie C's, this is the only other suggested, I do not own.

Ebay? OK. Why not.

Another suggestion, is Ivan Balbanov.

More than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. Works using a dog's drive. The better drive, the better results.

Very useful for puppies and youngsters before formal obedience.
