I have an 8 year-old female who weighs 76 pounds with bad hips. 7 years ago we had a TPO done to her left hip. After the TPO her left hip supported most of her weight. The extra load on the left knee over the years likely caused the complete tear of her ACL.

From researching the TPLO on this cite and on the web it is the best option for an athletic dog that has several good years left to compete and hunt.

Due to this dog’s age and activity level I am considering an older technique called a Fibular Head Transposition. The Vet performing the surgery also incorporates the fishing Line Technique. The Vet said he has had great success with this option.

The cost is about half of the TPLO. Has anyone had experience with a surgery other then a TPLO. Thanks Justin
