What is this catagory??

I see that many Hunt tests in my region are now offering this tests.

Whats involved and whats it for??

Is it a competition with a winner, or is it a test to a standard?

Why is it being offered at HT's??

Curious

It does give placements and is just like a Qual in every other way. First and second place become "qualified" to run in limiteds. They can also run in Specials for the remainder of the year in which they place and all of the following year.

It has been an option for a year or two at least.

It is a Field Trial Qualifying Stake that can only be run by Owner's of the dog. Most clubs that are putting them on in conjunction with a Hunt Test are doing it to attempt to introduce Hunt Testers to the Field Trial Game.

There are placements (just like any other Field Trial Stake), and 1st and 2nd place will be Qualified All-Age.

a competition with 1st through 4th places and Judge's Award of Merits for those dogs who in the opinion of the judges merit recognition for their performance

No ifs ands or buts.

It's a watered down version of the "Q" for people afraid to or simply not good enough to compete in an event with the competition/handling open to all.

The Oh Am is also Bull Sh!t but for a different reason.
 Start a OH/Am thread and I'll elaborate :p

Not to start any arguments here, but,

I've been to a couple of field trials.
I noticed that it seems the dogs are more "loose" at the line. Manners taking dogs to the line seem lax to me!
Is this the norm in FT? , or did I just witness a more lax field?
Is there judging going on as to how the dogs line manners are, or is the dog judged ONLY as to what it does AFTER it is sent?

Gooser ( who has been sent back to the holding blind and told to start over! )

After the OH AM to which I have already committed —I for one will not work at or Judge any more events that have any restrictions on entries.

Hmmm, just wondering if the one you ran is the same one your referred to in your post of 3 weeks ago. If not why the inconsistency of conviction :?

Yes, it's the same one.
But even if it were not, ran is the operative word.
