Whoa!
Am I on the wrong site or what?
Nope right site. HSUS has been brought up here before. There is more to them than meets the eye which is why these things are usually posted here.

Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world.

I have PetPlan Insurance because they have taken care of me and my dogs fairly, and promptly.

I had a mast cell tumor removed from one of my dogs. Total cost around $1200. Pet Plan processed the claim quickly and I was reimbursed 80%

Obviously H$U$ has figured out a way to make $$ off of people that buy pet insurance. Doesn't mean the insurance company itself is pro-animal rights; they may have seen the millions of morons that fall for H$U$ propaganda as a potential source of new clients (the more people that buy pet insurance, the better for the company in terms of spreading the risk).

I would guess that if they are offering a discount for policies sold by H$U$, the pet insurance co. may offer them elsewhere. Even if they didn't, I'd rather pay full price than have the discount and send $ to the AR freaks. Because don't forget, once they have you on their master list you'll be getting many pounds of junk mail, junk email and junk phone calls from them....

If you sign up on the internet, you get a discount from Pet Plan. If you have more than 3 dogs, you get a discount from Pet Plan. If you tell Pet Plan that another member referred you, that member gets a $25 gift card (Thank you, Deb Stukey!)

When I compared policies, it seemed that Embrace insurance and PetPlan were very similar. Biggest difference was that Embrace's deductible is per YEAR, whereas PetPlan is per INCIDENT.
The deciding factor for me was the HSUS/PetPlan relationship, so I went with Embrace.
But to each their own, if one is happy with PetPlan they should stick with them.

Yes, all one has to do is google and you will come up with many other affiliations or ways you can achieve that discount. There is a maximum discount anyway, so if you have microchipped your dogs and have multiple dogs you have achieved your maximum discount. I think Julie is right here-it is a marketing tool for lists for HSUS because I have Petplan policies but I am not on their (HSUS) list. I feel like Ted, I want a good insurance that pays and doesn't reject claims as hereditary. I just went through and compared insurance again as my Petplan renewals went up and I still stayed with Petplan.

In the past two years, Pet Plan has reimbursed me for

Cruciate (Rider)
Cruciate Repair (to redo other cruciate, which was repaired before I joined Pet Plan) (Rider)
Mast Cell Tumor (Rider)
Ingestion of Prescription Medication 2x (Weikel)

On each occasion, the cost was over $1000

On each occasion, Pet Plan has paid promptly without issue.

Pet Plan does not exclude cruciate repair or work to address dysplasia, which other carriers do.

I would need to hear from other people with long standing history with an insurance company before I moved my business from Pet Plan

I am a very loyal consumer. I firmly believe that, if you are pleased with what you have, you should stick with it. I would never try to convince anyone to change to a veterinarian/trainer/insurance company that I use if they are pleased with their current situation.

I am with you on this one Ted. When Raven had her C-Section with her Willie litter, I was reimbursed on "complications of pregnancy" at 90% after the $100 deductible. I was and am pleased and will be covering my net pup with them. Thanks OP for posting this thread to remind me to get the policy started on Peerless.
