Dear RTF'ers,

EDIT: 4/13/2012 - since this was launched on RTF, Macon County has advanced in the rankings from 71 to 65. With this sort of progress, your help really could help this local shelter benefit. THANKS! Chris

If you would not mind taking the time, your votes (you can vote once per day) could help the Macon County (Illinois) Animal Control and Care Center win the Rachel Ray Challenge. If you vote for our local shelter, it would be very much appreciated!

www.votetosavelives.org - is the main link. As you can see, Macon County, is currently #71 in the rankings, is currently way behind.

This local shelter is operated, and salaries are paid by the local Macon County Sherriff's department.

My family has taken on quite an interest in this shelter. We have adopted some family pets here, and are currently fostering a litter of pups, now 7 weeks old today. The foster pups were born when their momma was in quarantine after being brought in by the warden from a city street. My wife, being a soft-hearted soul, fell for the email request for a foster home on one condition: EVERYONE MUST GO!

These funds are not to benefit me or my family personally, nor are they to line the pockets of any individual at the Shelter. They are to improve the facilities and help continue to find good homes for the incredible flow of nice dogs and cats, in need of a caring home.

http://challenge.aspcapro.org/shelter/Macon%20County%20Animal%20Control%20%26%20Care%20Center - this is the link for the Macon County Shelter itself.

You can vote every day, once a day between now and Monday April 16.

Sincere thanks for your help, if you have the time. Your votes can really help make the difference.

Again, Thanks very much.

Note: I just registered today and it took a while for my activation email to come through. The activation is a one-time thing, on the first day you vote.

P.S.

I know some folks only "lurk" on RTF and don't like to post. I see that some viewers are reading this thread and are not logged in to RTF. That's fine!

You can still hit the link and vote.

Any and all assiting votes would be appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

It wouldn't confirm my eMail, so I don't think it "counted"???
Keith,

I am told that the email confirmation takes "up to" a half hour.

I tried and tried, from both my work and my yahoo email accounts. I eventually got 4 activation notes at yahoo, and 2 at my work account! There's a definite delay - both on the activation email, as well as on the updating of the vote tally. It's been "stuck" at 880 votes and 71st place since I first looked this AM.

I'd imagine at some point today, the rankings will update and hopefully we'll slide up in position.

Thanks! Chris

The third time was the charm. Voted and left a bookmark for tomorrow.

Must say our animal shelter could use the help, too. (Wiped out in the 2008 flood and still in temporary location...) But good luck to yours.

Good luck on "everyone must go", too.

Thanks!

It's Crazy Eddie's Pitbull Mix foster program. "Everyone must go!"

P.S. my forecast is that the first time was a delayed charm, and you will receive two more activations in the next 20 - 30 minutes!

I will comment also that I had a huge mental disconnect between what well-meaning, straight-up facilities, associated with ASPCA do, versus what Wayne Pacelle's outfit does.

No comparison, no relation.

The guy who runs our local shelter is a Lieutennant for the local Sherriff's office and he personally rescues Weimeraners.

I probably shouldn't say anything, but I voted for my local shelter. We are currently # 9.
I wish I could vote for more than one shelter - so many are so deserving.
