Am I the only one still not able to search all past posts on this forum?

I have had problems with the search function too. I am not sure why either. I think I got spoiled being able to search for a certain topic instead of looking through 100 pages like I did today.

I'm missing the ability to search too. The search function was broken after the last server move. Here is a post about it from 11 March.

Doing a search only shows messages since the downtime and from 2004 on back.

All messages from 2005 and 2006 are missing?

The problem is the search index is over 1/2 the size of the database file - about 300Mb and that overloaded the server when we tried to import (hence the CPU warnings. It will probably rebuild itself over time. I tried to run a rebuild script on it and it took the server down a few minutes ago.

We'll see what happens.

I guess Steve hasn't found a fix yet.

My searches, no matter the topic, only show related threads in the years 03' and 06' to current, and not very many 06'????


Just for kicks, I searched "Field Trials". 2 pages of threads came up, of those 13 were from 03', one from 06' and the rest were 07'. Figure there would have been some FT talk in between....

Musta been the years of the Hunt Test Boom. :lol:

Also, No matter my search topic. A thread on "HRC Blinds" started by Doc E comes up, also from 03'.

I actually have a solution, but it would require shutting down the RTF for a day or two again. I'll run it by Chris and see if he agrees to it and if so, we'll arrange it on a Sunday and/or Monday.

I think I know the real solution: VBulletin conversion!

Thanks for consenting to fixing it, even if it means a little bit of downtime.

There are forums with substance, and forums without substance. Search is not important on the latter, but extremely important on the former.

RTF is a forum with substance. We need to be able to search.

Not a problem, Chris. This is the first time I've had cell coverage all day anyway - Cingular and Southern Utah do not play well together. Give me a call sometime and we'll discuss a date for the "maintenance"
