I am the HT sec for our upcoming HT. I got a phone call today from somebody who wants to apprentice judge. I read the rule book and the judges that would have the apprentice have to OK it and the apprentice has to sign an apprentice affirmation form. Does it matter that the premium is up on EE and the 4 copies have been sent to AKC and there is no mention in the premium about an apprentice judge? Does the info have to be in the catalog? Or is just a mention of it in the HT report enough?

I will gladly call AKC to get the info if nobody has an answer - just thought I'd ask here first! :D

Thanks!!

I'm semi-sure that the "horse is out of the barn" on this one. That said, get the okay from the judges the apprentice will be serving with BEFORE you call AKC. With that hurdle jumped, the AKC might let you go ahead and allow the apprentice.

Thanks, Keith! I just wanted to find out what was what before I said ok or no way to the person wanting to apprentice. Will give AKC a call.

Thanks again!

My experience has been that AKC will not have a problem with it.

The apprentice does not have any say in the judging and AKC trys to encourage people to apprentice. Just because it was not published will not be a roadblock.

I heard back from Jerry Mann and there is no requirement that an apprentice be listed in the premium. I do have to be sure to put the apprentice info in the secretary's report and get the proper signatures on the apprentice judge affirmation form but we are good to go!

One less headache regards,

Andy, sorry for the late thoughts but that exactly what I had for info as we're using an apprentice at our Master test and only need to get the form filled out by the judges and include the info in the report..........though I do have him listed on the premium.......
