A Special All Age stake is for dogs that during the previous calendar year and the current calendar year prior to the date of closing of entries for such trial have been placed or awarded a JAM in an Open AA, Limited AA, Special AA, Amateur AA, or Owner/Handler Amateur AA stake carrying Championship points in each case or have been placed first or second in a Qualifying stake.

A Restricted is for dogs that have been previously placed in an Open AA, a Special AA, a Limited AA, a Restricted AA, an Owner Handler Amateur AA, carrying Championship points.

Well done, Andy.

The only thing I would add is for the Restricted stake, a placement in a regular Amateur AA stake counts as well. ANY AA stake placement makes a dog eligible to enter a Restricted for the rest of its life. The same cannot be said for a Special AA stake.

Go figure.

What about the master national qualifying. As I understand it:

This years period runs from August 1st 2006 to when this year?

Then for 2008 the qualifying period began on Jan 1st 2007 and runs til Dec 31st 2007.

If this is correct, then any passes so far this year also count towards 2008's national.

I THINK

Question 1. Until 7/31/07.

I can't answer the others.

I was wondering about this. The rules do not say ANY All Age Placement. They specifically call out the stakes. The Owner/Handler Amatuer is one listed. The regular Amateur AA stake is not. Is this an oversight, that people just ignore? Or is there a correction somewhere?

From the Rule book:

Page 21, Section 10, Paragraph 7

A Restricted All-Age Stake at a Retriever trial shall be
for dogs that have been previously placed in an Open
All-Age Stake, a Special All-Age Stake, a Limited All-Age
Stake, a Restricted All-Age Stake, an Owner-Handler
Amateur All-Age Stake, (or a Restricted All-Age Stake)
carrying Championship points in each class

Paging Mr. Fallon. Mr Fallon, you have a call on line 1.

He'll be along any minute now - no way he could resist bait like that regards

Since no one addressed my statement, I contacted the AKC.

They said that the Amatuer All Age Stake was inadvertantly left out of the Restricted All Age qualifications, and was added back in to the rulebook in the 12/2006 reprinting.
