question

I see litters advertised as "Lean Mac free" and "No Lean Mac". I sure this has something to do with a perceived health issue or genetic problem but could someone explain? Not looking to get anyone ugly, just looking for some answers as I'm in the market for a new pup. Please PM only if this is one of those "dead horse" repeat questions.

Thanks, Danny

Lean Mac was fairly genetically clean, but was bred a ton. In the field trial circuit, it is hard to find anything that doesn't have Lean Mac in the pedigree. There is nothing wrong with anything out of Lean Mac. They are very talented animals, but may be more than an Amateur can handle. Although it will all depend on the female lines also.

Hey labman do you care to elaborate? I have found Lean Mac progeny to be very tractable. I'm no expert (& not a pro) but do own & train 3 LM males who are sleeping at my feet as I type. I'm of the opinion that LM bred to the right bitch offers one of the best opportunities for a great FT dog with good temperament - and an excellent choice for the amateur FT trainer.
I have seen quite a few, probably not with the right female, that were a handful, borderline out of control. That is why I put in the original post something about it being part of the female lines.
