It has not worked well for me and several others I know. They come in heat but I don't think they drop that many eggs. 1 pup, c-section, lots of expenses and I wouldn't do it again. Wait for nature 10-12 pups.

Have only done this once several years back and it did not produce pups. It brought her into season but she never ovulated. Three months later she came into season on her own and was successfully bred.

As ErinsEdge said, we've tried this and although we didn't need a c-section, we drove four days round trip to Montana for the natural breeding plus all the other time and expenses required in having a litter to only have one pup. Bitch has previously had 10 and then 7 following the singleton. Never again.

DES. Yes, bred with progesterones and she ovulated. Mine went over a year so I decided to try it. Mine actually came in heat the same day I started the pills so he said she had to be on the verge. It seemed like she kept swelling and nothing happened prior to that. Subsequent breeding she came in heat normally.

I also used DES. Just pulled out my 2010 calendar. Started it on May 11 and she came in on May 15. That was about 8 1/2 months from her previous cycle when she was bred and had the 10 pups. That's about an average cycle for her so maybe she was closing to coming in as Nancy's bitch was. Yes, we did progesterone. We always do even for natural breedings.

I just induced a bitch , who has very irregular seasons with Cabergolene, still took about 6 weeks for her to come in, and she was bred to my old guy, who has proximal droplets. I find out tomorrow if it took...day 29 ultrasound

Now that you mention it, I used Cabergoline one time as well though I am completely drawing a blank as to what bitch I used it on and what the result is. Maybe Nancy will remember. She may have a better memory of what I have done than I do. ;-) If I have an aha moment, I will post what the result was.

I have heard that several bitches living together will affect their heat cycles, even make them almost totally go away. Is this a wives tale or is there anything to it?? Thanks again for the responses.

I have never experienced having their heat cycles "go away," but no doubt a bitch in season can bring other ones in the house in. I had a bitch on a truck one time when she was on the younger side and didn't really have her own established cycle yet and when any other girl would come in, even if mine had just been in 3 months earlier, she's be like "OK, I'll play along." Fortunately she eventually regulated herself and had a normal reproductive (and competitive) career.

Hahahahaha, houseful of females here, NO, the cycles do not go away, they generally come in together in groups and maintain pretty regular cycles, overall.

We found that our females seemed to come into heat at about the same time. This sometimes caused a problem with scheduling breedins so that there were not more than two litters on the ground at the same time (tried three at the same time and decided, never again!)

They say that when a group of military ladies are billited together that. they too begin to cycle together. Just think what kind of a war you would have if you had a whole brigade of ladies with PMS. I would not want to try to give them orders, one wife was enough for me! Bill

My girl is always late for her cycle and usually around 8-9 mos between them. My husband was going deer hunting and had a bottle of Doe in heat piss and she was nosey so he let her sniff it and about a week later she came in heat. Might have to use that more often so I can have her cycle at a more normal time of 6-7 mos. We did not plan on breeding at that time, but sure would like to know if that was what started her cycle so I can use it again.

The estrus in that stuff actually dissipates within a few days so it's more simply just urine in a jar. There are plenty of journal articles covering this.
