Over heard today (about judging).
"It's O/K to lay an egg, just don't let it hatch".

"it's one thing to lay and egg but, you don't have to hatch it"

I first heard it use by Sam Milton in refering to judge's set of Open marks.

I dont get it? Im a little slow:(
you set up a test.
you think you nailed it.
the test dog runs it.
you get a second test dog.
you chat, you ponder.
you call the first dog to line...............

then you change the test.
the set up is the laying, the running is the hatching ;-)

In many cases you can even avoid the hatching by scratching the test after some dogs have run.

1. Every judge can set up a bad test, called "Laying an egg". Reality

2. Recognizing it is a bad test and scraping it is the "Not Hatching". Wise.

3. Choosing not to scrape it and living with a bad test is "Letting it hatch". Unwise.
