We have a 17yo niece who is great with animals. She has seen us train and threw a little for us.
We were tossing around the idea of setting her up to raise some birds to make some extra money plus
we would have birds for training.
Any ideas or advice would be wonderful. I have the number to the state fish and wildlife for permits and such.
Thanks

are you talking ducks?
try to have free access to water. some of the best bird pens I have seen had a tiny stream trickling through them.
protect against your local predators, a friend of mine had a flock killed in one evening by raccoons.
if the home has a prevailing wind direction, place birds on side of property down wind of home  .
a tall pen is best for flight strengthening, better birds if they get a little flight time.

I raised ducks for several years, I had four flight pens 20 feet wide, 100 feet long with netting over head with wading pools with water running in them constantly. Feed went up, *****, possums, rats, mink, one Otter, hawks, owls helped themselves and the clubs would not let you know until the last minute how many OR if they wanted ducks. The last year I raised 4,000 ducks and sold only 3,000. I thank those that raise ducks that we use today for our dogs. For me, raising ducks sucks! Bill

I'll double second that........we raised them for a few years, 1500 one year, I'm sure we lost money to say nothing of the time gathering, washing, and candling eggs. Then transferring the hatchlings to brooders and feeding and watering them.......ukkkk, what a PITA
