This year the Rocky Mountain Retriever Club is running a RESTRICTED, not an Open.

Entries are being accepted via Entry Express. The EE premium mentions on several occasions that the club is holding a RESTRICTED and not an Open.

I mention this because the AKC Website lists the club as holding an Open, not a RESTRICTED. This is because the AKC program does not currently list the RESTRICTED in its menu. The AKC says that it hopes to address this matter shortly.

However, so that there will be no confusion, the AKC Website will be dropping the Open designation from the listing of stakes for the Rocky Mountain Retriever Club.

Nevertheless, the Club will be accepting entries for and holding a RESTRICTED at its fall trial.

To be clear, Restricted All-Age means that only dogs that have all-age points are eligible to enter.

The Rule Book defines the RESTRICTED STAKE as follows:

A Restricted All-Age Stake at a Retriever trial shall be for dogs that have been previously placed in an Open All-Age Stake, a Limited All-Age Stake, an Owner-Handler Amateur All-Age Stake, or a Restricted All-Age Stake carrying Championship points in each class.

Are you also allowing dogs that have only placed in an Amateur All Age stake?
Ted does not have any say about it - Dogs that place in an AA stake (including an Amatuer and an OH Am) are qualified for a Restricted.

How about Farmer running 24 dogs in the Open????

Actually, an Amateur is not one of the All-Age stakes listed in the rule.

I was just curious how Ted was handling entries from dog that only placed in an Amateur.

We ran a Restricted at Mid-IL this spring and accepted them as we are again this fall. Just curious.

Farmer will need to scratch 4 dogs ... when I spoke to him over the weekend, only 20 of his dogs were qualified to run a Restricted.

Doug

At the National, they mentioned that the Rule should include Amateur placements and will be amended to reflect that.

We will not differentiate between O/H and Am points

Why did Mid IL go to a Restricted and what was the impact in trial size?

Because so many people refer improperly to the Rule Book, I prefer to quote the Rule Book wherever possible.

How much smaller?

What was your entry size last Spring?
This Spring?

Do you lose many workers because of the Restricted?
