Reoccuring bladder infections

2372 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JoAnn Stancer
I have a client who has a 6 month old lab puppy that has had two bladder infections recently. The vet has administered antibiotics both times. What could be causing this? He thought it might be a food thing. Should he seek a second opinion to get to the bottom of this?

Thanks,
Carrie

I would ask if the vet tested the urine for any crystals... the beginning of gallbladder stones. Sometimes they don't produce enough acid in their urine and they end up with bladder infections, etc.

If this is the case, they have to be fed a urinary tract formula food to help maintain the acid level.

The only thing that comes to mind.
