Hello good friends

a few months back I had posted possibly the dreaded limp on my pup post

he had a suspicious x-ray read of possible cruciate tear

backed off training considerably
Switched to intensive rehab for two months
Slowly introduced him back to duck hunts with easy retrieves

he’s Doing
well

Thought I share Univ of Wisconsin test results
Good stuff
So impressed by the evolution of genetic testing

I wish you good luck for the future but I would still put aside enough savings for surgery. Complete ruptures can still happen when you least expect it, like when they get an exciting flyer and they come back with the bird on 3 legs

Got nationwide insurance since birth
If a rupture happens it would be on 2 dogs with 3 surgeries

i think I know which one 3 or 4 th generation pup is the culprit…
In many ways this is great information

Not all pet insurance company’s covers a 2nd cruciate repair or it may cover the 2nd only a year after the first. I would check to make sure

I know this test is not a panacea
But my training and hunting approach has changed because of this information.

even though I really love everything about my pup.. I would be hard pressed to breed him without info from the cruciate genetic test from the Dam..

I’m pretty sure of the genetic culprit

just my 2 cents
