Retrieving desire

410 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Gregg0211
Over the last few days, my 3yr old BLF has not had the same desire as she had before we went on a 3 week 7 master test sprint. She had a week off as I had to travel for work and I expected her to bounce out ready to work. Shes not in heat, hasnt been given any hard corrections and usually has strong desire.
Maybe test wise, and just doesnt want to train? Can all the hotel love and personal attention make her feel like she only wants to test? has anyone experienced this?

Might be worth a visit to the vet just to make sure nothings wrong healthwise.

Could she be close to going in heat or maybe early? I would agree about checking in with vet and performing cbc, chem screen, possible tick screen, and thyroid testing if necessary.

When we are doing fun bumpers and/or airing, she runs like her butt is on fire and is bouncing like Tigger. It might sound weird, but its like she sees me as her friend and just wants to have fun, but training sometimes has consequences. Im going to shoot some flyers this weekend to see if that helps. Also, it has been pointed out by a pro friend of mine that I only used wingers and need a live brdboy to help with excitement. But where I live and the times I can train dont always line up.

See my other reply. She just went out of heat in early May. When its fun bumpers, shes wild, just training has seemed to show less focus and effort.
Sounds like you burned her out with all the tests. She may just need more time off to get her enthusiasm back.

As you know, in the South there are limited opportunities to get test/passes in if you want to run MN. She was fire in the tests and went 7/7 in Master. Shes gonna get some feel good marks and flyers for a while and see how her attitude progresses.
