Hi all -

I have a question about shedding. I have an 11 month old BLM who has been shedding like crazyy for about a month. I've noticed the hair around his eyes is really thin, whereas I can see his skin. Is this normal? Since this is my first dog I'm not sure if this part of the shedding process or maybe due to something else. A friend had mentioned that it may be due to allergies? Looking for some feddback &/or advice.

Thanks

It does not sound normal to me. I'd recommend seeing a vet that may have some allergy experience. Good luck.

Is he scratching?
licking or chewing at his feet?
rubbing his face with his paws, or rubbing his face on the carpeting?
are there any other "thinning hair" spots?
does he have any dandruff, or spots of dry skin under his hair?
have any little red spots between his toes?
does the hair on his legs, and sides look thinner than on his back?

Look under his chin, right in the front. Are there little bumps there? That is a sign of chewing and rubbing if you're not actually seeing him do it.

Those are signs of allergies I have seen. If you don't see any of the above it could be something else. Thyroid? Of course talk to your Vet.

Good luck with your dog.
