My yellow lab has black skin; my black lab has pink skin. Yellow lab has thick, double coat; black lab has sleeker, seemingly single coat. Yellow lab is trying to be a black dog (he has a black spot :)); black dog's dad is yellow. Just wondering about her pink skin, and why it never turned black....?

I am sreaching up labs but what is the skin color
The skin color would be the color of the skin under the fur. Most prized is the red variation. As those labradors are direct descendants of Eric the Red and his breeding with an Otter off the coast of Greenland. The litter was exiled to Labrador to avoid shame
(for the Otter)
and founded the line. The otter tail prevailed as a desirable trait up until the time of the Wimmeriner cross.

The only thing I ask is PLEASE don't let my Black, Yellow, or Chocolate Males have pink-Skin colored Balls; been lucky so far as they tend to remain more of a Mongolian- Brown/Black and Fur covered. Probably the Genghis Khan influence circa 1220 AD;)
