I'm following the smartworks program for my dog. For some reason I am overlooking the FTP. Or it was not printed in my copy for some reason. It goes from Mini pile (3 bumper) to 9 bumper pile to pattern blinds. Isn't there suppose to be a FTP with the e-collar before continuing to patterns???? I've continued forward thru patterns, 3 handed casting and currently doing CC. The dog is doing great but I don't want to miss anything. Did I miss a step in the process?

On the flow chart, it does show FTP right before 3 handed casting. But there is not a section that teaches this. What you are referring to on page 76 is en route forcing. Very similar I think but more so forcing on the command "back" not forcing to a pile. I have not gotten to that point yet. Maybe Evan will see this and clear it up.

En route forcing is part and parcel to FTP. But your dog should be forced from your side first.

One reason I produced DVD's was to augment the material found in the Smartwork series of books. In the SmartFetch DVD the full forcing progression is laid out; from e-collar conditioning, to Walking Fetch, Fetch-no-fetch, to forcing on Mini-Pile, and on to a full 9-bumper pile (FTP).

Thanks Evan. I have the handling DVD but not the FF. Why is the FTP not covered in the book? Should it be done with the mini pile and 9 bumper pile? I assume I should go back and revisit this?
