Spay/neuter proposal hits the greater Las Vegas area.
The following is the legislature that Clark County is proposing to pass. Please come to this meeting and show your support for pure-bred dog enthusiasts. There is strength in numbers, whether you are AKC, another registry or just a dog lover. This legislature will affect everyone. Offer your ideas or just be there in support of fair legislature for the health and well-being of our puppies and kittens.
Section 1. Title 10, Chapter30 of the Clark County Code is hereby amended to add:
Section 115. No dog or cat may be sold, bartered, gifted or traded unless the following provisions have been met,
a. Any dog or cat sold, bartered, gifted or traded by any person, company, or Corporation must be surgically sterilized by a licensed veterinarian, prior to the dog or cat being transferred to the purchaser or recipient except as provided in section 115b.
b. An unsterilized Dog or Cat may only be sold, bartered, gifted or traded by any person, company, or Corporation to a person who is the holder of a current Pet Dog Fancier Permit or Pet Cat Fanciers Permit as provided for in 10.08.160.
c. The person, company, or corporation shall have all dogs and cats implanted with a nationally recognized Microchip Identification device prior to the dog or cat being transferred to the purchaser or recipient.
d. The person, company, or corporation shall maintain a record of all microchips implanted into any dog or cat sold, bartered, gifted, or traded including the Name, Address, Telephone Number of the recipient, or purchaser.
e. All records required by 10.30.115.c. shall be maintained by the person, company, or Corporation for a minimum of three years, and made available upon request to the Animal Control Officer, or any Peace Officer while on duty.
