I just finished a weekend of judging for WHRC. I met some very hard working club officers and members!! Everyone made me feel welcome and appreciated!!

The weather was great, the scenery beautiful (80+ degrees with snow covered mountains in the background!!) and good dog work. :)

A special thanks to K C Owens who took me around Salt Lake City for a little sightseeing and shopping!!! :) I've found a new "favorite" store for horse stuff in A. A. Callister's!!! If you haven't had an opportunity to see the handmade leather collars, leashes, lead lines and heeling tabs that she makes, you've misssed out on some really nice items!!!

Thanks again WHRC for the invitation to judge for your club and, most importantly, for your hospitality!!

I ran Steve Shaver's Pete in Master at Wasatch a couple years ago (Thanks for sending me the ribbon Steve! :) ). Very friendly folks in that club & it was a great time. It is beautiful there w/ the Rockies as a backdrop. I'd run again out there in a heartbeat.

Thanks to Vicky for coming all the way out here to judge!! :D :D :D
Just make sure you sport that new tan or burn you got this weekend.

For those of you who know Vicky well....kid in candy store was the look on Vicky's face at AA Callisters!

It takes all of of us to keep the sport alive and growing...thanks to EVERYONE who made the test go smoothly!

Vicky,
Thanks for coming out and all the help you provided to some of us that are rookies! Your insite was outstanding, I came straight home and took all the notes and hints you gave me. The weather was nice, Warm sunny and breezey to keep the skeeters at bay.

Thanks again and come back soon!

Vicky, I wish I would have introduced myself to you. I was the one by the trailer with my 2 yr old (darling  ) daughter running around playing as you guys were wrapping things up. I had a friend of mine run my dog in the senior as I wanted able to be there. They had never ran together and my dog decided he didn't want to listen on the blind I guess. He was your test dog for the water series. He can mark, just didn't want to run a blind right I guess.

Yes, KC is the best. She is one of the biggest reasons I am involved in retriever games. I was a dumb (younger) kid with what I thought was a good hunting dog. I showed up at my first picnic thinking I was going to light up the world. I got spanked! KC made me feel welcome and gave me a few pointers to help me out. Most of all she was a friend when not many others were (specially to a 20yr old kid). This was a whole new deal to me and KC made me feel wlecome. Had it not been for her, I don't know if I ever would have gone back. Since then I have learned a lot about training dogs, running events, and loving to see what these dogs can really do. My love of the sport has also allowed me to help form and run another HT club here in N. Utah giving people one-two more HT's a year to run.

Glad you enjoyed our beautful State. Travis

Thanks to all of you! I truly hope to see some of you again in the future!

Before I forget.......does anyone know how the little boy is that was taken to the hospital with suspected heat stroke? I didn't hear about it until Tom O. was running the Dad's dog in the last series. Sure hope he is OK!!

    A Fan club!!!!!!!!! Wow! HT Groupies that is a VERY scarey thought particularly since I am thinking it is all very over rated.

Thank you for the nice compliments anyway...you guys are awesome!

As for the little boy...I called Thomas last night and they had gave him some IV fluids and released him from the hospital. They were still about 2 hours from home when I talked to him. They said as soon as they pushed fluids he was doing much better.

Vicky,

Thanks for comming. It was my first time running a dog. I failed for sending my dog before being sent. Vicky was very nice and helpful. I hope this was my fist and last handler error. I know good luck with that - I need lots of help    :D .
Brandon,

Keep working with that little dog! Just remember......don't send while the bird is still in the air!! :) You'll get past those handler nerves to a certain extent with each hunt test you run. Just relax, have fun and EXHALE!!!

Best of luck in the future,
Vicky

Vicky, thanks for being understanding with my daughter Kylee at the Junior test on Saturday. I had a babysitter fall though and hadn't planned on taking her. I was frustrated that she tagged along to the line with me. Thanks for letting her sit in your chair. She still talks about the "nice Lady that her use her chair under the umbrella". I just wish my dog would have ran better, I think my frustartions with my daughter spilled over to my dog and she had a bad test. Hope to run under you again some day.
