Is history repeating it's self with the Washington Redskins for the trade for RGIII? Washington has given up 3-1st rounders, and a 2nd round pick to move up to select RGIII.

There have been two similar trades in the past.

Saints dealt all of their picks and a 1st and 3rd the following year for Ricky Williams.

The Vikings dealt 3-1st rounders, 2nd, 3rd and a 6th for Herschel Walker.

I think the Skins fans will be holding their collective breaths for the next few years.

What else is new? They've been holding their collective breaths ever since Dan Snyder bought the team. Some are getting very blue in the face!

As a Skins fan, we need a QB (as well as other things). The third first rounder isn't a big deal (hopefully), but the first two and the second could get us some good pieces. Of course, since the 'Skins are getting him, I am sure RGIII will end up making Heath Effin' Shuler look great.

You can't win without a top QB these days. Or course, a terrible offensive line can make a great QB terrible.

Lately I have seen alot of people jump ship and go with the ravens, I can't do that...I have loved the skins all my life, but it is getting more frustrating and depressing every year.I wonder when I will be able to wear my #28 jersey with pride again :(

The Redskins are alawys trying to get an immediate fix.
They do not trust the process.

In other words, they "keep doing the same thing over and over and get the same results."
This is the biggest risk yet for them.

Dan Snyder must have very deep pockets.

That latest CBA changed the respective value of going up to get a big selection. It used to be that there was a significant financial value for a team to move down (relief), and there was a very significant financial burden for a team to be moving up. Teams were eager to move down when presented a deal if they could lock-in on a player later in the draft. Now, business has picked up for teams that want to trade down.

With the economic aspect easing with a more balanced and less costly contract for these players, it has made the very high picks far more valuable. I wouldn't say the Redskins overpaid or that the Rams got highway robbery. It is, what it is... it got the deal done. Both teams benefited enormously. They're moving up to Mr. '1-B' - since Andrew Luck is '1-A' and RGIII has every right to be considered '1-A'.

The Redskins must now make the most out of the picks they have. It shouldn't be forgotten they still have six draft picks this year (and six each of the next two years where the 1st rd'er is missing). This year, for example, they have a third rounder and two in round four. (70, 102, 109). There is a lot of value in rounds 2-4 where teams are really built. I normally don't like Snyder's ways, but in this case he secured a franchise QB for his team, which has been their achilles heel.

I do love my Skins, though the owner does make it very hard to be a fan. Snyder's only asset is his deep pockets, too bad he has a penchant for spending it in all the wrong places. He also likes to spend QBs and coaches like pocket change.

The Vikings also lost 5 players along with the 6 draft choices, RG3 could be a complete flop and the trade will pale in comparison to the Herchel Walker trade. Hopefully RGIII won't decide to join the Olympic bobsled team mid-seasaon. :D

Rg3 will be a perfect fit for my second fav team. They need a serious running back to take some focus off of him. People think all he does is run and he isn't a runner like Vick was when he came to nfl. Rg3 can actually throw and throw long and throw accurate. He is a more accurate Randall Cunningham.
