In Sweden spike-collars are banned at all official clubs.

Electric collars are forbidden by law since a year ago in my country. In general people thinks this is good idea, but for some this means that the can't correct problems like when dogs "folows" (dont know the correct word) cattle (cows etc) instead of of the moose (or elk), that is supposed to be driven. It colud be hard to correct the dog if you don't standing next to him. This isue is up to deabate on the forums from time to time.

To use E-collar for a fast way to train a retriever, only for buying time, considers to be totally out of the question. I must agree on that.

No offense intended, but these posts make me glad the US & Canada haven't succumbed to these bans. Used properly, eCollars are a humane training tool. Some people should mind their own business, I guess we need to be on the lookout to be sure they do...

With the liberal mindset of the Canadian government, I'd expect this to be on their agenda very soon. To those officials, there is no such thing as individual responsibility. To those in the socialistic sphere, we are all too stupid to think for ourselves, so only those sheeple and their leaders have the infinite wisdom to know what's good for us.

Freedom isn't free! It's a responsibility that must be protected at all times. And it's the one thing I worry about more and more coming from governmental socialistic views, than I do from terrorists. Ignorance may be bliss, but it should be one of our biggest fears.

To have a liberal mindset doesn't neccesarly mean that you are a socialist. Some people can't act responsibel and for those you have to make laws. But I can agree on that sometimes I sure wonder on what grounds they based the new regulations on (in Sweden). A new law could make more negative sideeffects, than what it was before with the original problem.

I'm not fore using E-collar in general but I've learned that this could be the only way to correct the dog in certain special situations were nothing else works. If its done by skifull person it could get good results. Now that option is gone.
