So my pup is six months now he is not perfect by any means but basic obedience is fairly well enforced with a stern voice (generally speaking) I feel like I should be doing more but to be honest I have no idea what Im doing Im taking things day by day and mostly just trying to understand my dog and how well he is understanding me most of the trainers I have talked to say they like to start training around six months well my question is now that I for the most part have basic obedience what is the next step he has been introduced to guns and water, wings all the basics as far as I know and of course he can make basic retrieves I just wanna start doing something now that I feel like will actually be preparing him for hunts any offered advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

This flow chart is one of the best training tools available. It is general enough to use with just about any Carr based program. I do not understand why more people don't use it to manage their training progression.

If you know a local pro in your area....Ask if you can throw birds for some knowledge. Pros have a great deal of knowledge that you can benefit from. I want to add that it is not a perfect world...So use some common sense when you ask. On the other hand, if you don't ask.....
