To sell, or not to sell

Trying to make a decision on whether or not to sell a dog. She's a pup I kept out of a litter almost 2 years ago. She's a great marking dog and handles OK for her age, I just haven't put the time into her as I have with the other 2 dogs. She has her NAHRA started title and is ready to run intermediate. The wife is very attached to her, and is totally against selling her. This dog LOVES to work, actually she has a hard time containing herself when I'm working one of the other dogs. I feel that I am putting her on the back burner and not giving her a fair shot. It seems that training the 2 older dogs is more of a priority, and I'm not sure why.
With our first baby coming this summer my time is going to be even more restricted to train and the extra $ wouldn't hurt either.
I'm trying to decide whether I'm being a realist by contemplating the decision or just being selfish.

In your post it sounded to me like you were leaning toward selling the pup. That's what I would do for a couple of reasons:

(disclosure: this is from a woman's point of view, one who has raised two kids)

1. Big reason. You've got a baby coming. If you're like the vast majority of couples, it'll be your wife doing most of the work, but, your wife will appreciate if your attention is very much focused on her and the baby at this time. Pup would be receiving even less attention.

2. Sounds like pup has a lot of potential. If you know someone who would take the dog and advance her, something you're time-challenged 8) to do, let them. The dog would be happier.

3. Wife says she doesn't want you to sell the dog. When the kid comes, she might just change her mind. First kid?? If so, I don't think anything prepares you for how much this will change your life.

Good luck with the new baby!!
