Does anyone know a good trainer in the Eastern Massachusetts area? Have spoken to Jim Pickunka @ Pond View Retrievers in Brookline, Ct. Any help is appreciated. Oz

Jim is a great guy. If he is full or too far away, try Lois Monroe @ Heart & Soul Retrievers in W Hampton, NH. Also up that way is DAve Sears @ Riverbenz Retrievers. Nothing that I know of in the South Shore area.

There's also our good friend Buck Shope @ ttp://www.swiftriverretrievers.com/ in Central Mass. Buck helped us get started years ago.
I have used Jim P. He is very good at explaining the process with your dogs. He has daily workshops where you can take your dog and work him. I have been to a few of them and they are very helpful. Of course I brought a dog that was older. You should attend his nightly sessions where he works with his client's young dogs. You can learn quite a bit watching him. Believe me I watched him and learned the techniques. He is very gentle and precise. I have never seen a trainer like Jim who is so willing to work with clients. He will teach you what you need to know and work on problem solving.
Thanks to all, this gives me exactly what I need. Oz
Is Paul Botello still training. I think he is down by the cape somewhere too. I'd also recommend Buck or Jim highly.

Paul is in S Dartmouth and although i heard rumblings about him and Pauline hanging it up, I saw him running a couple of dogs in a senior stake at W Thompson last summer. He is a great guy and one of the best hunt test handlers I've ever seen. www.gunningisland.com As a side note, Im pretty sure Jim P. learned alot of what he knows from Mr Shope so you cant go wrong with either if thats what you're looking for.
