In the last monthe issue of Retriever Journal Vickie lamb wrote an arctical titled " Options for Training Birds" Ducks and pheasants were the obvious, but she mentioned Bantie Roosters for flyers, anyone use these, for flyers or dead ones when running marks or blinds?? I would bet you could find them quit a bit cheaper than ducks or pheasants..

Yes, I think it was Kristie Wilder that mentioned using them and they work great. I used them for steadying nothing like a cackling little bantie for helping with steadiness.

They make good training birds. Don't last as long as a duck once they are dead.

I've used and reused them as flyers by tying their feet and clipping flight feathers on one wing. They're tough and last week after week of labrador rides.
