If your setting up doubles on water for a intermediate hunt test what is the closest they should be to judge the dogs memory while not causing confusion of sending a dog to what apears the area of an old fall?

Too many variables, open water or floating salad? Any points of land or islands to help separate things? I have seen started tests in wide open water and you could not get the marks far enough apart. I have also seen a senior water series entirely in a puddle the size of a high school basketball court. Unless you post photos of the water, how can we say for sure.
