Help us choose! The sad thing is they don't have one with the Groom is dragging the psycho dog trainer ;) Also don't worry, the dogs will be on the lower cake tiers - I wouldn't dare leave them off! I'm leaning toward the first one since our cake will be a duck hunting scene.

Hope you enjoy this poll!

I voted for the bride pulling the duck hunter. But it is too bad that you can't get the bride's left arm extended in a back or angle back cast.

By the way Lainey, have you thought what a great handler's suit you wedding dress will make at a FT?

Sadly yes I have thought, "Man this is a bright white, but I'd trip over myself if I had to handle!" Also thought about how much the black dog hair is going to show up on the dress!

Don't laugh, I took my dress home and tried it on for my dad to see it, then when I had to take it back in to be hemmed I was really embarrassed because of all the black dog hair it had picked up

FOM,

I can't say that I like any of them because I don't think it fits the situation - unless you are really dragging your fiance to the alter.

Why not just keep it simple - a classy bride and groom topper and get some nice small lab figurines to go sit beside the topper.

IMHO - it would express who you are and still keep it classy.

When I got married my grooms cake was a blue ribbon and we decorated the table with a bunch of FT ribbons and trophies.

In 1954 I had Cleo fly to Mobile from Lake Charles, picked her up and took her to Panama City to meet my folks. When I took her back to Mobile for the return flight she got on the plane carrying my 870 pump! She got some smiles, but haven't times changed. Of course I still have both Cleo and the 870, and both are still in good shape. Bill

I agree..this stuff looks like fodder for a Jeff Foxworthy joke.

On the other hand...it is your wedding...whatever makes you happy.

How about a nice traditional topper then do something different like this...

Also, Bullet could be the ring bearer. :D

Have the two of you standing before the preacher figure, featuring a pin with "JUDGE" on it, who should have a blue ribbon in his hand. Or better yet, have it attached to his belt on the back side, with a sprig of mistletoe.

Have David flashing several Ben Franklins, hanging from each pocket. hehhehhehheh

UB...wishing you both all the best! BTW, where's my invoice?

Moira,

Bullet will be back in Texas during the wedding but Flash will be the ring bearer - the pillow is in the shape of a duck - all white except his wings and bill made out of a nice shiney gold material with little hearts on it. Looks really nice and we put pockets in the wings to hold the rings, just in case. I'll post a picture once I get one.

Gman,

I hear ya. We are going with a duck hunting scene on the cake and thought we would see what was out there. David said it would be more like him dragging me from dog training, but they don't make one like that!

This is the cake design:

http://www.retrievertraining.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=28398&highlight=wedding+cake

We did find a formal topper with the bride and groom in a holding blind, we just can't seem to relocate it.....that is the one David really likes so we will more than likely go with it.

As for the dogs, they will be on the 2nd and 3rd tiers - cake ended up being 4 layers.

David and I also figured since we are footing the bill for this we were going to have a little fun with it - we both truly dislike formal affairs, but we are doing the bog wedding for our Moms.

As for the Groom's cake, well that's a birthday cake for my sister, shhhh, don't tell her. Its her birthday also and she is one of my brides maids, so we are going to surprise her with a cake also and a mini-birthday party.

Lainee, Flash and Bullet
