The big dance in dog shows starts tonight. Our sporting dogs won't be on until tomorrow.
Several of my bench show friends are there with a sharpe looking black lab named Dickens!

I will be rooting for the little gus!

Hey! I was serious! The tv guide shows on the "Animal Planet" channel, which is where I've watched Westminster before, as having the "worlds ugliest dog" competition. I was not editorializing!!!!

I think it's on the USA network not Animal Planet. Try looking there.

I was going to start a post about Westminster but I figured everyone knew.... :D

Why don't some of the handlers dress more professionally??? Some are soo sloppy you'd think they were going to pump gas. Good grief they're on national TV....

How I would love to get a MH on a CH regards,,,

westminister dog show

Angie, this is for you, how nice it would be to have every breed Ch. to be a Master Hunter!!! my golden Aubrey was named after a town in texas. so what is the town of Aubrey like? Her sire is from Belvedere goldens. We wanted to continue the texas theme , so we went and looked up cities in Texas and came up with Aubrey.. now you know the rest of the story, lol. her sire is Belvedere Corbec Lone Star. Maria

How cool is that???? Get your "Aubrey" on some birds and in water I'm your gal...

I have one lab that needs just one more major to get his CH. He has one leg on his SH and he's only 3 years old. All his minor points and his 1 major were done this fall/winter and his handler picked him up from the field while we were training and took him to the show that weekend. His owner handles him at hunt tests. He'll definetly get his SH this spring and then on to the Master........

That my friends is what the breed is really about...... From the field to the ring.....

Aubrey

my Aubrey is quite the swimmer. When we can get away from the kids, we go swimming together at the local lake. yes, people think it a bit weird, but who cares. I usually raise birds ,well, me and the hubby, but i get most of the work. I will let you know how she does!! maria

Angie,

I couldn't agree more... Both of my Flat-Coats are CH MH's with advanced Obedience and Agility titles too. I personally like the versatility of my chosen breed but have great admiration for the talent and abilities of dogs bred and trained to a high level for a single purpose as well.

I know a couple of CH MH Labs, but it's certainly not the norm... It would be nice if breeding with a dual purpose in mind were more the norm than the exception in all the retriever breeds.

Never really got into the doggy "beauty pagent" thing -- must be because of the ex-wife -- any way here in Canada we have a TV show called "Going to the Dogs" about a year on the dog show circuit -- if you thought that some of the RTFers needed to learn to get along you should see these dog show people at work

Some Sporting Group, of all the retriever breed dogs in the group, only the Flat Coat has an AKC hunt test title.

I almost choked when David Frie started talking about what great bird dogs the American Cockers are. When has anyone seen a real working cocker??
