What to believe?- Health Off Topic

I've been looking into COCONUT OIL and have found very conflicting information.
Dr. Weil at his web site pans it. Quote- Sources of "bad fats" include animal fat and processed vegetable oils...avoid coconut oil.
At Dr. Mercola's site www.mercola.com he sings it's praises as "the smartest oil you can cook with".
What to believe, who knows. My gut feeling (no pun intended) no one knows for sure what are the facts are. The science of nutrition still has a long way to go.

It contains saturated fats which freak a lot of people out. The problem with that thought is that it just doesn't fly all that well when you really test it. Just look at the whole Atkins thing, time and time again they test it and find that not only will you lose more weight but it doesn't hurt your BP, cholesterol, etc.

Anyway, my opinion, take it for what its worth, is that it is a great form of oil with many healthy benefits.
The whole secret to the Atkins diet is that you are eating only 1200 calories per day during the first several periods of the diet.

The bowflex plan has you eating 1200-1400 calories per day with lots of ice water and strength training during the 6 week period.

The Amish plan has you eating lots of bacon, fried chicken, fried eggs, gravy, ect... while burning it all off while doing manual labor on the farm.

Its all good in moderation with a heavy dose of physical labor and some aerobic exercise.
