I was wondering how many days after the dog has ovulated that you can first check for pregnancy through either palpation or with a blood draw (relaxin?).

My vet does an ultasound at about 28 days. Much before and you cant see anything. We also do an xray 3 days before delivery - just to get an estimated head count.

Relaxin is supposed to be able to be used at 21 days, but I've always waited til 28-30 days post ovulation because less margin for false readings.

So if the dog has the relaxin blood draw test done at 30-35 days it should be fairly accurate on whether or not the dog is pregnant?

It has been for me 100% and I've been doing them for the last 7 years or so. Mine are sent to a lab, I know there are home kits available, don't know about those.
