Wound care

For our vets in this site , one of my dogs had a huge abcess on her side. It came up on Wednesday and got lanced on Friday. The instructions were to flush it out everyday but it is completely sealed up this morning . Do I have to get it opened again to flush it out or or just keep giving meds as instructed. She is back to her normal self today and just wants to go.

kind of interesting they did not indicate for how long - since wounds will obviously close up as they heal. Hope you get your answer.

That's why I'm asking , the good part is that she's back to acting like her old self.

Where on her side? Abscesses on the body wall can be associated with migrating grass awns.

At the back ribs.
Did they do a bacterial culture and antibiotic sensitivity? Chest X-rays?
No sir they said it was an abscess , lanced it and flushed it completely out .
Cinco finally went back to the trainer , it took 3 weeks to finally close completely. She's a ball of fire and was happy to go back.

Well all is is not well , after 1 week at the kennel the abscess is back. Dr Ed I can't get in your office , nor can I get into the vet in that she is in. Can Dr Ed give me a call at 817-718-6997 please.

Since I got a call late on Friday I have to see if I can get an appointment at her vet clinic.
The above was what they removed from Cinco this morning. Dr Ed your clinic hired a great vet that went above and beyond to find this.

I know Dr Ed because he was my vet when I came back into the game. I have no pull with him , I only had questions and he gave me straight answers. As for resources I'm a working stiff like most of us in this sport I wish I had gotten insurance for times like this but never did.
