Hey Booty, what's up down there....

NEW YORK - The NFL has suspended six players for four games each for violating the league's anti-doping policy.

The players used a diuretic, which can serve as a masking agent for steroids.
The suspended players are running back Deuce McAllister and defensive linemen Charles Grant and Will Smith of New Orleans; defensive linemen Kevin and Pat Williams of Minnesota; and long snapper Bryan Pittman of Houston

Sounds like future Hall of Fame coach Sean Payton is not on top of things..;-)

The players tested positive for a diuretic in a diet pill. The diuretic was NOT on the ingredient list of the product, and the company has since suspended sales of the product. The company faces charges for selling a prescription ingredient over the counter and has been sued by one of the Saints' players already. 4 years ago, Deuce McAllister sent the product in to be approved by the NFL, and they did so. This is a garbage decision by the No Fun League. Perhaps if the players played for Dallas or New York the decision might have been different.

This sux for the Vikings......Now they face the toughest part of their schedule and will miss their two top defensive linemen.

NBC Sports reported Sunday that Kevin and Pat Williams might file a lawsuit, seeking to have the suspensions voided. The Williams' claim they didn't know the substance was in the diet pills. It's not listed as one of the ingredients. The Williams' also claim that they've found evidence the NFL knew for two years that the banned substance was in the pills, but didn't tell the players.
That, they say, constitutes grounds to have the suspensions lifted.
The NFL addressed that in its written statement.
"With respect to the question of whether a specific warning should have been given regarding Star Caps, the (league) policy does not set forth an obligation to issue specific warnings about specific products and no testimony suggests that the NFL and NFLPA have ever contemplated imposing such a requirement..."
ESPN.com reported Tuesday that the players will file a federal lawsuit Wednesday, asking that the suspensions be blocked so the players can continue playing this season.

They have a weight clause in their contract. They have to cut weight sometimes to meet their obligations and they may use a diuretic to accomplish this. Not saying they ain't on roids, but they have a plausible story. I'd rather see someone get away with it than see someone like Deuce get burned for an honest misunderstanding.

None of these players will miss a game this year. They will appeal or as has been reported, they will file a court document against the NFL and the drug company.

The Williams Wall will be in place for the final 4 games and into the playoffs.

Wade I must disagree...I don't think the NFL makes a decision of this nature without crossing every T and dotting every I! They will miss all four games and rightfully so...the NFL policy is very clear you are responsible for everything that you ingest regardless of what is listed on the label! The NFL strongly encourge players to refrain from using any supplements...period!

its not going to matter as long as Drew Brees keeps having three INT's(four if you count the one called back)...but what do you expect from a short ex Austin Westlake HS QB...

regards ex Austin Reagan HS alumunus

I can understand and approve the NFL's no tolerance policy, but this recent event has a large grey area. These players should be given the benefit of the doubt in this case.

I would have to disagree with this. I believe that it was an honest mistake, but the NFL rules clearly state that if the ingredients are in your body you must be suspended. You are responsible for anything that you take. If you let it pass this time, then the next time a masking agent is found in somebody's test they will just use the same excuse.

No....it won't happen....because now everyone knows Starcaps has Buretimide in it and can't use the same excuse. When this happened nobody knew Starcaps had this in it (except the NFL Honchos) because it wasn't listed on the ingredients.

I believe all the players have a legitimate case and a temporary injunction against the league suspending them will be granted.

I feel badly for the Deuce. I really think he took this stuff in good faith and like has already been written in this thread, he did send it to the league for approval first! I'm not too concerned with Grant and Smith, two over-paid DE's that probabaly won't be on the squad next season.

Sean Payton needs to learn that running the ball is part of an offensive stratergy. Only thing Saint fans have to look forward to this season is Drew Brees breaking Dan Marino's record for passing yards.

Or was it an honest mistake? Is this product where they actually got the stuff in their system, or did it come from something else? Nobody will ever know and hence the no tolerance rule. I worked in the drug testing business for many years an I can assure you EVRYBODY who test positive for something, anything, will claim that something else caused it. I can’t tell you how many times I got the “I tested positive for opiates because I ate a poppy seed muffin”. True that will make a SCREENIG test positive in some instances positive but further confirmation with GC/MS breaks it down to the exact molecular structure and will tell you exactly what opiate they had taken and far more times than not it was an opiate and not muffins causing the positive results. Now the same testing cannot be done in this case, but just because they say it came from this does not mean that is where they are getting it from. Good cover if you know the product has this in it and has failed to list it….you can take all you want in the form of another product and claim it was from the product that did not list it. This is the NFL and not the US legal system and since there is no way of truly knowing how these players got this in their system you have no choice but to act on it as a banned substance. Believe me lots of people make a very good living figuring out ways to cover up for banned subsatnces of all sorts. We had one person that did nothing more than read publications to see what "the other side" was doing. I use to read "High Times" on a regular basis to see what new masking agents were out there, and others would read the body building mags for the same reason...
All that said I think this affects the Vikings far more than the Saints. They were done after last weeks loss to the Bucs. They Vikings on the other hand are still in the hunt, even with their less than stellar record….oh yeah and a good beating by the Bucs.

I don't disagree, but a paycheck is a paycheck. It is your business unless YOU agree to work for someone who requiers testing, or you are court ordered to be tested. Freedom to choose what you want to do is not an issue, but you can't have your cake and eat it too in most cases
For what it is worth 90% of the people in my lab would have had to "study real hard" to pass a test;-)

Whoa...the toughest part of their schedule? Detroit, Arizona, Atlanta? Mebbe the Giants will be tough, but the others, if you get outa their way, will usually beat themselves.

Of course they will be weakened without the Williams boys, but the fact is, the Vikes can figure a way to lose with a full squad on the field. One of the most exasperating teams to follow in the country...except the Broncos.

I can send you and Gooser Steeler shirts to get you both on the right track.

Should be an interesting Super Bowl with the Giants vs the Steelers. I'm thinking the Giants will repeat as Champs but, won't cover the points (spread).

I think the NFC South is going to have something to say about that Booty
