Gander was diagnosed with Horner's syndrome... Underlying cause is severe infection vs lymphoma... Any background on this? Biopsies were sent off so we will know in a day or two... Please keep him in your prayers...

Thank you,

Richard

A lot of cases of Horner's are idiopathic (ie, have no cause and resolve spontaneously). Although there definitely are other, scary things that cause horner's, many dogs resolve on their own. How old is he? Lymph nodes below the jaw swollen?

Swollen nodes yes... He also has an issue with his lower jaw its almost as though it paralyzed... Vet treated with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics... Now we await the results of the biopsies...

So sorry you are going through this. I know the waiting is hell. Hoping to hear some good news soon.

Sending prayers and good wishes your way.
Are the nodes in the backs of his hind legs swollen? The ones in the neck can swell for a variety of reasons, the hind legs not so much so.

You know Barb I don't know? Not sure I ask or if he told me... I figured any type of infection could cause the neck glands to swell... Is the swelling of the glands in the hind legs indicative of lymphoma???

Richard

The swelling of the glands in the hind legs would certainly be indicative of a systemic problem (trying to avoid using the "L" word here ) whereas the glands in the neck would swell just from an infection in the mouth, nose, throat, etc. They aren't a very good indication of lymphoma because so many things can make them swell.
