I know most of you guys run hunt test or field trials! If someone offered a quick Bible study on Sunday mornings before the test started, do you think there would be a good turn out? I've thought bout trying to start one at the hunt tests I run. Just wanting to get others opinions. Thanks for your time?

Thanks Dale! I know it can be little tuff on Sunday mornings but I hate my family to miss church so I thought to myself that we could start a short Bible study. I know there has to be others out there that feel the same.

We tried it (Atlanta Retriever Club) and wish we still did it but the same people who wanted to do it/come to the Bible study were the ones trying to scurry around and put on the trial. Sure did get a lot out of it when we did, though.

A lot of clubs do it. Just annouce it at the tailgate on Saturday night or if no tailgate, put it in the premium. It just needs to be done by someone not too involved in getting things rolling in the morning for the hunt. Doubt the judges would be able to go to it but a lot of the handlers might.

I would absolutely attend. We did a couple at an HRC test in Ohio a couple years ago, always had 7-10 people show up which was great I thought.

I would want to see the test dog run before I decided whether I needed to be praying.

Excellent idea and as a judge if there is a handler in the crowd that I know would like offer a benediction I'll ask him. Had an instance a few years ago where the test marshal announced a prayer meeting for all bird boys at 0800 Sunday morning. I suggested that a 0715 prayer would be as well received and would allow the test to start on time. I saw a number of handlers who knew they were "on the bubble" attend.

I left a hunt test one Sunday morning to attend a local church service. I was way down on the list and thought I had plenty of time.
When I got back the series was finished. They left the set up where it was and the judges came back and I ran my dog. It was an HRC Finished water series.
He nailed the marks and lined the blind. Praise the Lord.(& thank the judges)

Wow, I believe that would qualify as a freak me out moment when you discovered everyone had left! Whew

It is not uncommon in the deep south for clubs to announce a voluntary non-denominational "devotional and prayer" will take place at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at XYX. I know West MS HRC has done it regularly, and Amite River HRC, South MS HRC and Bay Area (but we forgot last time :( )
