Is it typical to see baskets/launchers used?
Disappointing yes but it may be for a reason. That's disappointing.
I can't see how that can not continue to influence the regular Upland Hunts. Am I the only one who thinks the use of baskets or launchers makes a mockery of a flushing dog test?
I thought you meant used by the shaggers... Not good, regardless of "having a reason." Next question: What if you're - sorry, What if your pro - is running a pointing Lab?Am I the only one who thinks the use of baskets or launchers makes a mockery of a flushing dog test?
If it wasn't a pointing lab when you started, it likely will be afterward.I thought you meant used by the shaggers... Not good, regardless of "having a reason." Next question: What if you're - sorry, What if your pro - is running a pointing Lab?

Why, if it were the Great Britain Grand, yer out! Pegging ain't cricket. What happens if the dog catches the bird?
Now that's a novel idea - Dave, wonder if the ESS R&D committee tried it on for size this week at the NC over in Cambridge? Using say muscovy ducks? No, it is no longer typical to see baskets or launchers at the Grand. The birds are now placed in remote release boxes. At some distance, the box lid is remotely opened. The bird simply steps out of the box and walks away into the cover,..well before the dog reaches the area.
