as a youngen (27yo) it is cool to see/read/hear the history of the sport. got to hang out with an older fellow that is part of our local HRC club who was at the first ever HRC hunt test in LA he could tell you some stories of dogs it was awesome. and kinda wished they had a trailing test at the end of the blind everyonce and a while.

Who are these guys, and when and where was this picture taken????

Those are from back in the days when Trebark sponsored NAHRA. Ancient (NAHRA Senior test at Sweet Marsh, IA, May '89 http://www.nahra2.info/HistoryProject/NNV-IV3-3Q1989.pdf. Few folks went all-out to support the sponsor.) The yellow Lab is Stardust Galadriel's Roxie who may have held the record for the most Senior tests failed...

This issue of NAHRA News describes the first Invitational: http://www.nahra2.info/HistoryProject/NNV-II3-3Q1987.pdf

It also has an "Alaska Update". The next Invitational is there in a couple of days.

Mr Stroyan,
Who is that with that nice yellow?
This is a program from my first NAHRA test in 1989.
The test was run at Cadens Kennels in Campbellsport, WI.
Mr Jagoda was 1 of the judges that day.
It was a great day!!

But NAHRA never got a foothold here.

Holy smokes, look who is in the 1989 test in NY!!!!!!

Wow! That brought back a whole lot of memories!

I remember Mary Grace Kennedy handing out those ribbons that weekend at the old NYS DEC Center in Avon, NY. I remember her speech about all the started dogs who were about to make the big jump from Started to Intermediate. I remember a whole lot of things from that weekend!

Wow! Good find Stan!

Chris

Here you go Keith... A Trebark "sponsor" jacket. Forget what I paid for a sponsor membership that year... It was probably around 1989... In Alaska... I was involved pretty much from the start with Andy Loranger and the guys up there.

Alaska

Bill,

This photo may bring back fond memories of Alaska. My cousin's granddaughter took it in Anchorage yesterday. Cute little fuzzy critters in the yard.

I hope they don't have any running the Invitational tomorrow.

(I have a bunch of those sponsor patches if you need more.)

I forgot Brian's name, but remember Mr. Tanner. There were a few truly great early NAHRA dogs. Jim Anibas in Anchorage had a bitch littermate to Clincher. Mike Helgeson's "Turk" (http://www.nahra2.info/HistoryProject/NNV-VIII4-4Q1993.pdf, p.8 ff) and his mother "Molly". My Nell. (He said modestly.) Many others.
Jim Anibas dog was Cinder of Theodore River (great dog at a young age)... She was the mother to my FC AFC Northwind Gale Force (co-owned with my good friend and training partner).

Turk was Cedar Valleys Hi-bird Turk... later on Lardys truck and ran quite a few Nationals. Another great dog.

Those very early MHRs were running some darn tough tests and had to be good.

2 things go when you get old:

#1---MEMORY
#2--I forgot what the other one was...............
