I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a vent for a fan (fantastic fan) installed within the top storage compartment. I would like to have it look nice, but most importantly keep the precipitation out. I've looked at the big white fantastic fan vents for RVs, but surely there is something better out there.

Is getting some some pieces of sheet aluminum and having someone fabricate a vent the best option?

I usually just prop open the lid, but would like the option of leaving the lid closed for times I need to leave the box and keep the dogs kennelled.

Thanks in advance. I have attached pics for reference:

Maybe I'm not clear on what you mean, but I wouldn't have a way to protect the controls or the fan from the elements, nor have a way to access them if I had it covered. I'd consider it if there are suggestions I'm not aware of.

Do you mean behind the storage? Not enough room.

i would replace that fan with a radiator fan from auto supply made for outside elements

Not a bad idea, but would like to keep this particular fan.

I have contemplated putting in a floor vent or 2, but I think the standard ones may be a bit big. However, I've only looked at putting them behind the storage and not the sides. I'll reevaluate putting vents on the side.

Thanks.

I went with the regular non low profile roof vent with insert. I don't think I have enough room for the low profile, nor did I think it would allow enough air flow.

it was 37.50 for those 2 items and shipping. I'll post back when I get around to installing it. I hate to cut more holes, etc, but I think it it should work well.

update

Just an update, the vent I bought arrived quickly worked and looks pretty good. Excuse the mess in the storage area.

I chose the fantastic vent fan due to the low amp draw, quietness, and flow. It will also blow in or out.

I also have it tied in to the main battery via the trailer plug wires for quick stops and while driving/traffic, etc.

For extended use, I have a deep cycle battery that should last about 18 hours. I also have a 12v battery that is used for deer feeders, etc that lasts about 2 hours and can fit in the storage compartment.
