Just wanted to start a thread to gather some more info form other people. We all know that dogs flare and or drift. I know there are many things out there that will do that to our dogs but just wondering if anyone has factors that they add to setups that help dogs to push through them. I know of some such as shadows, cover change holding blinds, hills, and so on. Is there any that you guys try to factor into your setups on daily basis? Just wanting to pick everyone's brain.

prevailing wind, direction of the sun....and out west- absence of cheat grass, foxtails, spear grass

Side hills, tree lines, ditches

Ditches, roads, treelines, between two trees or in a field w/ bales of hay, different cover types & islands in water or water exit/entry w/ points. Some pics below

Follow this link and download John Cavanaugh's "Mega Master Manual".
Not only is it loaded with "factor" info but it outlines lots of good stuff to do with your dog. Very useful info from John who hopefully will be nominated for induction into Retriever Hall of Fame this year. http://www.weebegoldens.com/John%20C/megamaster_manual.doc
