Franco, being an out of stater to your club is being an honorary member all I get in the new club?

Heck no! I'm working on some logo caps with the new club name. Just waiting on final approval from the AKC. Oh, by the way, if we get the D/Q going in the Spring, I'm counting on you to judge!

Update. Thanks to those who have written or contacted MDWFP. I spoke this morning with one of the individuals on the State Wildlife Commission and he advised me that as some suspected it was not the intent of the law to require participants in Hunt Tests and Field Trials to buy a license. This law was to be more directed toward primarily racoon hunters.

The Commissioner I spoke to has 3 labs and 1 golden all of them have run in UKC events. He advised me that this part of the proposal would be changed. My feeling is they realized the impact of such a requirement and decided to change it. I know Dr. Polles the head of the Dept. called this commissioner to discuss it due to the emails and letters he received.

Ending the conversation the commissioner did say that we may still want to come to the meeting to be sure that this wording is removed. I believe it will be changed but I guess something could stop it. I'll try to attend the meeting in July.

Again thanks for the support RTF'ers who responded.

Gene:

That is good news that common sense may prevail in the end. You may want to make sure about the language regarding what organizations may hold trials/tests. As I read the proposed rule, and I pointed this out in my e-mails, the way it is currently proposed events like the World Retriever Championship and SRS wouldn't be allowed in Mississippi since they aren't held under the AKC/UKC etc.
