or something similar.....

figured this was THE best place to ask this.

i'm looking for a physician's desk reference for canine's (or something similar).

i have seen one before from a physician bud of mine, but it was an old edition and i think i've seen similar books elsewhere, but i'm having trouble finding something -- even google searching. this may be b/c drug reps tend to supply us w/ a new updated PDR yearly and the PDR itself may not be something for general public - dunno.

anyhow, i'm a pharmacist in a bone marrow transplant unit by trade, and while very familiar w/ dosing/indications/AE'S among human meds, i'd like something in black and white i can refer to when i need to put my boys on various meds....

can anyone point me in the right direction?

are you talking about a drug reference?

If you're talking about "in general", there's the Merck's veterinary manual.

If you're talking about a drug reference, someone will probably answer before I do. My husband has one on his pda that he loves.

I can find out for you later tonight if you don't have an anwer by then...

to answer, yes, i'm talking about a "general drug reference".

in school we had several books we needed to get by w/......one is called the "drug information handbook". nice book, giving brand/generic names, indications, warning's/contraindications, doses, etc etc....

something similar w/ what your husband has on his PDA, only in book form.

Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook
Our vets use the online version, I found it at Barnes and Noble and got it.
It is an excellent resource.


This is the copy I have...

Compendium of Veterinary Products, 7th Edition 2003 (Paperback)
by Bayley (Author)

Available at Amazon.com

Plumb's is a great resource but it is more practitioner oriented than product oriented, this is much more like the PDR

PILL BOOK GUIDE TO MEDICATION FOR YOUR DOG AND CAT

This is a fairly complete book (almost 600 pages) for a 1998 edition and its a paperback for sale for about $7. It's written for the lay person.
