Been using the water hydrate for the last two months with pleased results during the hot summer months............

The dawgs seem to enjoy the taste and recover from the sessions faster......... 8)

Rehydrate will become a regular addition to the training kennels and dawg trailer.........

Very pleased with the results................. :D

my labs will not drink the stuff
Bones, to help get the dog acclaimated to the taste, try breaking the tablet in half and adding it to 16 oz of water or taking the same half mixture and pouring over their food...........
Some dogs may take a little longer to adjust to it..............some jump right in....

With due respect to those that swear by electrolyte mixes they are only as good as the water that makes up the majority of their volume.

Dogs don't sweat like people. If you taste a person's sweat its salty. A dog cools through its tongue and paws via evaporation. If you taste the moisture on a dog's tongue (not that I'd advise anyone to) its pure H2O. Put simply, people lose electrolytes through their body's cooling system, dogs don't.

That's why its completely useless to give them a drink which apparently replaces electrolytes they haven't lost. Dogs which have severe gastro-enteritis, however, do lose electrolytes and that's why vets use them.

I think you'll find that the flavouring in the "sports drinks" induces many dogs to drink more water than they would otherwise drink. A dog is at least 10% dehydrated before a desire to drink kicks in and by then there's probably already a noticeable impact on performance. If you can get a dog to drink before it feels thirsty you will counter heat stress and loss in performance far more quickly.

My suggestion? Try adding a bit of gravy to your dog's water and see if you don't get the same outcome.
