So I tend to utilize the OFA to verify the health clearances; and usually I can find them. However recently I haven't been able to find online records for dogs who owners have official copies for; they are several years old so it's not that shouldn't have been uploaded. In one case. I found eye clearances online but nothing else, some are in the records of offspring, other are not. I like to link the clearances online to my references, so people can make sure they are legit. I also like to look up the clearances to make sure others advertised "litters-sire-dam" clearances are on the up and up. However it appears the Online system is missing information and in some cases wrong for many dogs. Is anyone else having such issues.

Not everyone submits additional test results beyond hips, eyes and elbows. I have also tested my dogs for EIC, CNM, PRA, DD but I have not submitted that information to OFA. I post the information via PDF documents on my website for each dog.

If I have questions about a dog and it’s clearances, I go to the dog owner because lots of times people do not submit clearances to OFA.

There are some spelling errors such as Jazztime Nothern Exposure (AKC paper has Northern) and the 's in names seems to cause trouble. I've searched for a few in the classifieds that didn't come up.

Coolwater's Hawkeye "Legend" is on the OFA site as Watermarks Hawkeye Legend

But the database is a wonderful resource.

But the database is a wonderful resource.
Great Resource but if you're listing litters etc. It would behoove one to make sure the clearances are actually there and people can find them. Otherwise have pictures of the certificates uploaded. I feel some people will look into these things be unable to find the records, assume they weren't done and just move on.

The problem I'm having right now are females interested in a stud dog; and I was a unable to find their records on the database; 2 separate dogs. Luckily the owners did have the certificates, but it was a bit disconcerting when I couldn't find them online. The owners were a bit upset about it too, I guess they were never told they weren't listed in the database.

Sometimes it is a misspelling or difference in spelling between what the owner thinks they registered the dog as and what AKC has. Sometimes, the application must not have the correct info or is missing info, like sire and dam, and can't find the dog that way. I've come across that several times, including one I bred that I knew was done, and was surprised didn't show up under its dam. If there is a difference between AKC and what is on the application, OFA just doesn't publish it. Had that happen with a birthday being off, it didn't mesh with AKC record so I had to submit some correction form. But they didn't notify me, they sent me the proper result forms, but she never showed up on the database until I caught it and had it corrected. That was 10+ years ago, maybe they've changed that particular policy but that's what I was told at that time.

I work for Amy Raby in K9Data. Our records are set to link to the OFA database if the AKC or CKC registration is in our record. There are errors but I have always found that a phone call or email gets them fixed quickly.
