Getting a pup in a couple of months. It has been a while since I had one, my current lab just turned 12 and has been on the same food for about a decade. He always did well on it so I never saw a reason to change. But with a new pup I decided to look around and see what's new. What are y'all feeding puppies these days? I know I'll feed whatever the breeder feeds at first but am willing to look at other options. I'll only have the one dog so price isn't much of a factor and I know that plays into what a lot of breeders feed because of the volume.

Second question is what are y'all giving for joint supplements. My current dog is on Dasequin and has been on a few different things over the years. What is working for y'all both for developing pups and maintenance once they are full grown.

Thanks much,
DH

I feed Victor Hi-Pro Plus(30-20) it's an all-age food with kibble small enough for pups. I give a Glucosamine/Chondroitin chew(Dr. Lyons, I think?) to my working dogs.

Slowly switched my puppy from what the breeder feed (Pro Plan) to Orijen Large Breed Puppy....supplemented with Fish Oil. Seemed to work out really well. Before he went to Trainer at 6 months we switched him back slowly to Pro Plan...as that is what Trainer uses...so far so good. Healthy 80+ lbs. of muscle, beautiful pup at 13 months, and shows a lot of talent....next pup will get the same.

On my second pup, Fromms Large Breed Puppy, then Victor Hi Pro Plus. Was feeding Dr Tim's to the adults but there were a couple shortages and the price went up. You may want to check out Nutrisource LBP and Performance, as they are very popular around here. I'm sure you know that every dog is different and what works for one dog may not work for another. Oh, I supplement salmon oil every meal.
