Life Is Fragile

As I was traveling adjacent to a large field this morning, my eyes were captivated by a number of spider webs backlighted by the sunrise due east. The silk strands appeared so delicate as they battled the wind and sagged heavy with the morning dew, ephemeral structures that determine life and death, their radiant beauty will disappear with the continuing ascension of the sun. Life is fragile.

Fragile and yet at times it seems there is nothing as strong as a spider web.

I agree... spiderwebs are the perfect example of the strength and fragility of life. As always your photos are inpiring Mike.

This one was taken on the morning of a particularly humid day in central AR. Like a lovely necklace of diamonds shining in the sun.

Wasn't it the ancient Greeks who believed the Fates held scissors to the threads of our lives and snipped it at the end. They probably got the idea by seeing the spiderweb.
