I don't beleive there has been 74 Nationals.

But, if there was, at 1 National per year, would that make him 89 years old?

14 NFC's means there have been 14 NFC's come out of McKenna Kennels. Some trained at McKenna but Am handled to the win and others handled by Jim or his father Roy.
some NAFCs included I think

Can't be, since Jimmy's license plate reads "14 NFCs", it doesn't say "NAFC". I should have paid more attention to the spare tire cover on his spare tire mounted on back of the dog box. It lists all the names of the 14 NFC winners.

I certainly could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time, but from looking at the winners of The National Retriever Championship Roy won in '48 and '56, Jimmy in '05, Charlie Hill with Dandy in '75, that's 4, Dandy also won the Canadian twice, Sharmain and Garbo once each, I don't remember if Washington's Lucky Minerva was a Mckenna dog but I think she was and she won the Canadian twice, by my count still not 14

Minnie would be credited to Doug Orr. CNC Rip of Holly Hill by Roy & maybe 1 more CNC by Roy, NAFC Cody's R Dee, NC Risky Business Ruby, NAC Fishtrap Calamity - I believe he counts both NC & NAC - & Roy was a trainer of NC Springers (2) before he went into Labs - Don't know if they are counted. & John McMurtrie's dog won a CNFC.

Jimmy Gonia's truck license plate reads " 14 NFC". And Patopea had at least one win. And where is Bill Sargenti? The stats do not seem complete?
I think they are counting the dogs trained at the kennel. Jalva's Sweet Sharmain was handled by Mike Greene and it didn't say 14 Labrador NFC's. Roy trained springers. He could have won Springer trials.

Sorry the OCR software didn't read thhe pdf files very well.

I did this count in 2000 for the pedigree book "The Finalists". The active trainers numbers have increased in the past years since then. Unfortunately, the formatting didn't stay.

At the risk of pizzin Kristie off, keep in mind that three of Lardy's six wins came with ONE dog, "Lottie".

NO ONE comes close to Danny's record of the number of dogs qualified for the National.

Seems to me that would make it even more special. She's the only 3 time winner and Lardy was her trainer. That's extra special in my book, extra special dog, extra special trainer.

Hey guys statistics are great but dont degrade to who is the greatest trainer. All of these folks are truly some of the best that have stood beside or trained a dog. All have had their moments in the sun. I am proud of the fact that I have been able to share the same field trial ground with a bunch the people you all have mentioned. Everyonce in a while(and not very often...lol) I have even taken a ribbon away from them. There are many great trainers that are not on that list and more to come. Enjoy your moments with them and treasure the memories.;)
